Bradford Opens £31m Darley Street Market Replacing Two City Centres

Bradford's new £31 million Darley Street Market opened on July 10, replacing the city’s Oastler and Kirkgate markets, both closed the previous month. The modern three-story market features a lifestyle floor with non-food stalls and cafes, a second floor with fresh produce vendors including long-standing traders like Solly’s and Taplin’s butchers, and a popular top-floor food hall with diverse street food vendors and a bar by Northern Monk Brewery. Traders expressed optimism about the market's potential to revive Bradford city centre, with many noting the improved environment compared to their previous market locations. The opening included a soft launch prior to a weekend of celebratory events featuring live music, cooking demonstrations, and family activities, with Bradford Council officials emphasizing the market’s role in the city’s regeneration.
