Avengers: Doomsday, the highly anticipated MCU film, is currently in production with Anthony Mackie confirming filming is underway and progressing well. The movie will see Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom, who will serve as the new central villain, and will introduce Franklin Richards, whose potential shift to villainy is fueling fan theories. The Fantastic Four are expected to play a pivotal role by assisting the Avengers against Doom, in a dynamic reminiscent of the Guardians of the Galaxy's involvement in Infinity War. The Disney+ series Eyes of Wakanda is deepening Killmonger's legacy by tying his actions to critical timeline events. Oscar Isaac has also hinted at Moon Knight's possible return in Doomsday, suggesting expanded hero participation. The film is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
