Anil Ambani's Reliance Group has partnered with Bhutan's Druk Holding and Investments (DHI) to develop significant solar and hydropower projects in Bhutan. The collaboration involves setting up a new entity, Reliance Enterprises, which will focus on green energy investments, including a 500 MW solar project and the 770 MW Chamkharchhu-1 hydropower project. This initiative marks the largest foreign direct investment in Bhutan's renewable energy sector by a private company. The projects support Bhutan's net-zero emissions goals and align with its Gross National Happiness Index. The solar project will be executed in two phases in Gelephu Mindfulness City, while the hydropower project will follow a run-of-the-river model. Reliance Group aims to enhance sustainable energy solutions and smart distribution and metering systems through this partnership.
