China Investigates PVH Over Xinjiang Policies

China's Ministry of Commerce has initiated an investigation into US-based fashion company PVH, the parent company of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, over allegations of discriminatory practices related to Xinjiang cotton products. PVH is accused of boycotting products from Xinjiang, a region where the Chinese government has faced criticism for its treatment of Muslim minorities. The company has been given 30 days to submit documentation detailing any such measures taken over the past three years. If found guilty, PVH could face fines or restrictions on trading within China. This investigation is perceived as a response to increasing trade tensions and restrictions imposed by the Biden administration on China. PVH has stated that it complies with all relevant laws and is currently in communication with the Chinese authorities.
