ADF Militants Kill at Least 10 in Congo

Extremist rebels linked to the Islamic State, known as the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), have launched a violent attack in eastern Congo, killing at least nine people, including an infant, and abducting three others in Tenambo village. This incident follows a series of attacks by the ADF, which has intensified in recent years, causing widespread fear and a significant humanitarian crisis in the region. Local officials reported that the attack resulted in the destruction of ten homes, and there are still three individuals unaccounted for. Authorities are urging the population to remain vigilant and avoid isolated areas. The ongoing violence in eastern Congo, driven by over 120 armed groups, has displaced nearly seven million people. Rights organizations have condemned the ADF for numerous human rights abuses, including mass killings and abductions of children.
