Planning Authorities Approve Over 3,600 Homes Across UK, Malta, Ireland

Several new housing developments have recently received planning approvals in various regions, indicating a significant push to address housing needs. In Malta, the Planning Authority approved 589 permits for over 3,000 residences, primarily apartments, with St Paul’s Bay set to receive the highest number of new dwellings. In Cambridge, UK, plans for 292 new homes at the Cherry Hinton North development were approved, including a new local centre intended to serve as the community hub, with a substantial portion of homes designated as affordable housing. Mullagh in Ireland also saw approval for 58 homes, consisting mainly of semi-detached and detached houses. In West Yorkshire, despite opposition over flooding, pedestrian safety, and design concerns, plans for over 300 homes near Exley Lane in Elland were granted full and outline permissions, with conditions addressing drainage and design improvements. These approvals reflect ongoing efforts across multiple regions to expand housing availability while balancing community and environmental considerations.
