Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain for a deal worth up to £51 million. Ugarte joins as part of a significant summer overhaul that includes the acquisitions of Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, bringing United's summer spending close to £200 million. The club has also offloaded Scott McTominay to Napoli for £25 million, among other departures. Ugarte, identified early by Erik ten Hag as a key target, is expected to bolster United's midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo, with ambitions of challenging Casemiro for a starting role. Chelsea had previously shown interest in Ugarte but withdrew due to wage concerns, opting instead to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
