Convicted Sex Offender Accused of Photographing Minors at Joliet Pool

Farrell Theis, a 61-year-old convicted sex offender, has been arrested for allegedly taking photographs of juvenile boys at the Inwood Athletic Club in Joliet, Illinois. Theis was accused of using his phone to capture images of high school-age males on February 2, a suspicion that arose when a staff member confronted him during the incident. Following an investigation, police found images on his phone related to the incident, leading to a warrant for his arrest on charges of child photography by a sex offender. Theis was arrested during a traffic stop in Romeoville and has since been released under the SAFE-T Act. His criminal history includes a 1989 conviction for aggravated criminal sexual assault against a minor. The case has raised concerns about safety at recreational facilities.
