Tata Group Aims to Consolidate Four Airlines

Air India Express is seeking to finalize the merger with AIX Connect, with Tata Group consolidating four airlines and expecting approval in March 2024. The company is focused on low-cost carrier expansion into tier II and III regional cities. The carrier plans to induct 50 new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft over the next year, increasing its combined fleet to 98 aircraft by next December. The merger is expected to create a strong competitor to the low-cost Indian airline IndiGo.
