El Al Sets Fixed Prices for Key Destinations

El Al Israel Airlines has agreed to implement fixed prices for round-trip tickets to four international destinations—Larnaca, Athens, Vienna, and Dubai—ranging from $199 to $349, effective until the end of 2024. This decision comes amid criticism of rising ticket prices due to the reduced competition from foreign airlines following the Israel-Hamas conflict. The agreement was made during a meeting between El Al CEO Dina Ben Tal Ganancia and Economy Minister Nir Barkat, aimed at providing affordable travel options for Israelis. Despite recent price hikes, El Al reported a significant profit increase, with a net profit of $147 million in Q2 2024, attributed to demand for its flights. The airline plans to offer around 80,000 tickets and will also reduce prices for remaining available seats. This move is part of El Al's strategy to maintain its competitive edge and facilitate international travel from Israel during ongoing disruptions.
