76-Year-Old Man Arrested After Eight Children Fall Ill at Leicestershire Summer Camp
Eight children fell ill at a summer camp in Stathern, Leicestershire, prompting emergency services to set up a triage center and take the children to the hospital as a precaution. A 76-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of administering poison or a noxious substance with intent to harm or annoy. The East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s Major Incident Team is leading a thorough investigation, with ongoing police presence and support from children's and social services. Detective Inspector Neil Holden acknowledged the community's concern and emphasized the complex nature of the case, urging the public to provide information through a dedicated online portal. All affected children have since been discharged from the hospital. Police have also referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding their initial response to the incident.
