Two Teens Arrested After Crashing Stolen Car Into Long Island Home
Two 16-year-old boys were arrested after stealing a 2014 Kia Optima and crashing it into a residence on Washington Avenue in Mastic Beach, Long Island. Suffolk County Police officers first spotted the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Mastic Road and Patchogue Avenue around 4:30 p.m., but the Kia fled when marked patrol units arrived. Minutes later, the car collided with a home, and the driver attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended, while the passenger remained inside the vehicle. Both teenagers were transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and were charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. The Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshal assessed the structural damage to the residence, and the Kia was impounded. Authorities are seeking additional information from the public regarding the incident.
