Weis Vineyards Wins 2025 New York Winery of Year

Weis Vineyards of Hammondsport, New York, was named Winery of the Year at the 39th Annual New York Wine Classic for the second consecutive year and third time overall, highlighting their excellence across multiple categories including Best White Wine and Best Pink Wine. Rose Hill Vineyards from Long Island won the prestigious Governor’s Cup for their 2019 Clarity Cabernet Sauvignon, recognized as the Best of Show. The competition, hosted by the New York Wine & Grape Foundation and Governor Kathy Hochul, featured over 100 wineries submitting nearly 700 wines, judged by an expert panel including sommeliers and industry professionals. The New York Wine Classic is a nationally recognized event that celebrates the diverse American Viticultural Areas across the state, such as the Finger Lakes, Long Island, and others. Weis Vineyards, known for its German-style wines and founded by Hans Peter Weis, emphasizes the strong winemaking tradition and regional terroir of the Finger Lakes. Additional category winners included Billsboro Winery for Best Dessert Wine and Montezuma Winery for Best Specialty Wine, underscoring the depth of New York’s wine industry.
