WeRide Expands Robotaxi, Robobus in Saudi Arabia

WeRide, a leading autonomous driving technology company, is expanding into Saudi Arabia with support from the Saudi Transport General Authority, initiating testing and deployment of Robotaxis, Robobuses, and Robosweepers in Riyadh, AlUla, and other cities. Robotaxi trial operations on Uber are set to begin within months, with full commercial services targeted for late 2025. The Robobus, designed to withstand the region's climate, will serve last-mile transportation needs and integrate with existing systems like the Riyadh Metro. WeRide’s Robosweeper S1 has launched as the region’s first monetized autonomous sanitation project. The expansion supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 for smart city development, road safety, and tourism growth, with the sector projected to reach $110.1 billion by 2033. WeRide’s partnership with Uber aims to introduce autonomous mobility solutions in 15 global cities over the next five years.
