Michigan Mother Arrested for Allegedly Abandoning 3 Children for Years

A Michigan mother was arrested for allegedly abandoning her three children, aged 15, 13, and 12, in a Pontiac home for approximately four to five years, during which they lived in deplorable conditions. The children survived on weekly drop-offs of prepared food from their mother or strangers and had not attended school since their abandonment. Authorities discovered the children after the landlord requested a welfare check due to unpaid rent and lack of contact with the mother. Upon arrival, deputies found the home filled with garbage, mold, and human waste, with the children exhibiting signs of severe neglect and poor hygiene. Sheriff Michael Bouchard described the situation as one of the worst cases of neglect he has encountered in his career. The children were taken into custody by Child Protective Services and placed with a relative following their discovery.
