Gary Danielson to Retire After 2025 Season
Gary Danielson, the esteemed CBS Sports college football analyst, will retire at the end of the 2025 season after a 36-year career in television, including 20 years with CBS. Known for his work on SEC and Big Ten broadcasts, Danielson is the longest-tenured college football analyst on any network. He will be succeeded by Charles Davis, a veteran NFL analyst and former Tennessee football player, who will assume the lead college football analyst role for CBS starting in 2026. Davis will continue his NFL commentary with CBS during the 2025 season. Danielson has expressed his admiration for Davis and believes he will excel in the role. This transition coincides with CBS's shift from SEC to Big Ten coverage.
