Customs Seize Multi-Billion Dollar Drugs Money Laundering Syndicates in Lagos Hong Kong
In Nigeria, Customs officials at Lagos' Murtala Muhammed Airport seized illicit drugs worth N5.1 billion, including Canadian cannabis, Tramadol Hydrochloride, Pregabalin, Norflex, and Sardalud tablets, imported under deceptive means without mandatory health certifications. Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, Customs intercepted significant drug smuggling operations involving approximately 1.2 kilograms of crack cocaine and 39 kilograms of ketamine, with three suspects arrested and investigations ongoing. Hong Kong Customs also dismantled a major money laundering syndicate linked to suspicious funds totaling HK$2.6 billion, arresting four individuals and freezing assets, with the case under further investigation. Additionally, Hong Kong authorities conducted a crackdown on counterfeit goods ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, seizing around 170 boxes of counterfeit mooncakes and over 3,700 various counterfeit products, resulting in two arrests. These coordinated enforcement actions highlight intensified efforts by Customs agencies in both Nigeria and Hong Kong to combat drug trafficking, money laundering, and counterfeiting, reinforcing public warnings against involvement in illicit activities.
