Two Men Charged with Attempted Murder in Mount Prospect
Harley J. Babcock, 21, and Kyle Surz, 20, have been charged with attempted murder following a violent incident on September 1 in Mount Prospect, Illinois. The two men allegedly instigated an argument with a 33-year-old victim at a barbecue near the RexPlex, which escalated into Babcock shooting the victim and Surz stabbing him. The victim managed to flee to a nearby BP Gas Station, where he received help and was later treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Both suspects were arrested on October 29 and 30, respectively, and have since been denied pretrial release. Their court hearings are scheduled for November 6 and November 26. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, which included the recovery of multiple shell casings at the scene.
