Arizona State Upsets No. 7 Texas Tech
Arizona State stunned No. 7 Texas Tech in Tempe, rallying for a last-minute touchdown as Raleek Brown plunged in from 1 yard with 34 seconds left to beat the Red Raiders 26-22 and hand Texas Tech its first loss. A defensive pass‑interference penalty on Texas Tech set up ASU’s game-winning drive; the Sun Devils piled up 394 total yards and kicker Jesus Gomez earlier converted four field goals. Texas Tech was without starting QB Behren Morton (listed as available only in an emergency) and relied on freshman Will Hammond, who finished with 167 yards, two TDs and an interception while engineering two late scoring drives. Sam Leavitt, active after a recent injury, threw for 319 yards and converted a critical 4th-and-2 late in the game. The upset ends Texas Tech’s unbeaten run but is unlikely to eliminate its College Football Playoff hopes if the Red Raiders win out in the Big 12. Texas Tech will try to rebound next week against Oklahoma State.
