Kettering Health Cyberattack Disrupts Care, Lasting Up To 20 Days

Kettering Health is currently grappling with a cyberattack that has caused a system-wide IT outage, severely disrupting patient care across its 14 medical centers in southwest Ohio. CEO Mike Gentry has stated that the recovery could take 10 to 20 days, with staff following downtime procedures and rescheduling appointments that require IT systems. Patients, including those needing urgent surgeries and chemotherapy treatments, have faced cancellations and difficulties communicating with healthcare providers, raising significant health concerns. Emergency departments and clinics remain open, but other area hospitals are experiencing increased patient loads and longer wait times due to the disruption at Kettering. Additionally, the health system has warned patients about scam calls impersonating its network staff to solicit credit card information.
