WFP Warns Global Food Crises in DRC, Gaza, Afghanistan
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has raised alarms over severe food crises in both the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Gaza. In the DRC, a staggering 28 million people are facing acute food insecurity, with over 3.9 million in emergency conditions due to escalating violence, economic collapse, and massive displacements. In Gaza, renewed military actions have left hundreds of thousands at risk of severe hunger, with food supplies cut off for weeks and remaining stocks expected to last only two more weeks. Both regions urgently require global intervention to avert catastrophic humanitarian outcomes. In addition, the WFP has highlighted the critical situation in Afghanistan, where 3.5 million children are at risk of malnutrition, necessitating substantial funding for continued assistance. These crises underscore the pressing need for international support to ensure food security in vulnerable populations worldwide.
