VFX Legend Bruce Logan Dies at 78
Bruce Logan, a pioneering cinematographer and visual effects artist best known for his work on Star Wars: A New Hope and 2001: A Space Odyssey, has died at age 78 after a brief illness. Logan began making animated films at 14 and received his first screen credit at 19 on Kubrick's 2001, working under VFX pioneer Doug Trumbull. His five-decade career spanned both Britain and Hollywood, with credits including Tron, Airplane!, Batman Forever, and music videos for Madonna and Prince. In addition to his VFX work, he contributed to the film industry as a director, editor, and producer, and was known for mentoring many. Logan was celebrated by his daughter as a 'rebel with a camera' and a visionary who created movie magic before the CGI era. He is survived by his wife, Mariana Campos-Logan, and his children.
