Castleford Tigers Confirm Ryan Carr New Head Coach 2026

Castleford Tigers have appointed Ryan Carr as their new head coach on a three-year deal starting with the 2026 Super League season. Carr, a 37-year-old Australian currently an assistant coach at the NRL's St George Illawarra Dragons, takes over after Danny McGuire was sacked following a poor run of results. Carr has prior coaching experience in the UK with Featherstone Rovers and Leeds Rhinos, as well as in Australia with Parramatta Eels and an interim head coach role at St George Illawarra Dragons. He expressed enthusiasm about the club's future, emphasizing the need to improve the Tigers' current standing and capitalizing on the club's potential for rapid growth. Castleford's director of rugby, Chris Chester, praised Carr's knowledge, work ethic, and coaching experience, expressing confidence that he can lead the club to better performance. Carr will join the club after the 2025 NRL season, with Chester continuing as interim coach until then.
