Utica Zoo Challenges Community to Find Escaped Beaver Cauliflower

The Utica Zoo is actively searching for a two-year-old male beaver named Cauliflower, who escaped from his exhibit prompting a Code Blue response from the staff. The zoo's search efforts have included setting humane live traps and using trail cameras throughout their expansive 67-acre grounds, but so far, Cauliflower remains at large. Zoo officials noted he was briefly spotted near the Rotary Pavilion shortly after the escape was discovered. The search has turned into a community effort with assistance from local police and environmental agencies, and the zoo is encouraging visitors to report any sightings. Meanwhile, two female beaver siblings have been removed from public view as a precaution while habitat modifications are made to prevent future escapes. Beavers are known to be most active at dawn and dusk, which may aid in locating Cauliflower during these times.
