French authorities have arrested two suspects in connection with the daring theft of crown jewels from Paris' Louvre Museum, which occurred last Sunday. The suspects, both men with prior burglary records, were apprehended after one was caught attempting to flee the country from Charles de Gaulle Airport. The thieves used a basket lift to scale the museum's facade, forced entry through a window, and swiftly stole jewels worth approximately $102 million in under eight minutes before escaping on scooters. The museum's director described the incident as a "terrible failure," highlighting significant security lapses, including areas without CCTV coverage. French prosecutors and Interior Minister Laurent Nunez praised the investigators for their efforts but warned that premature leaks about the arrests could hamper the ongoing investigation. The Louvre has since reopened, while authorities continue to work on recovering the stolen items and identifying all involved parties.
