Jets Fire Coach Robert Saleh, Search Begins

The 2021 NFL coaching class has seen a significant turnover, with only Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions and Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles remaining after the recent firing of Robert Saleh by the New York Jets. Saleh's dismissal came five games into his fourth season, leaving him with a 20-36 record. He was one of seven coaches hired in 2021, of whom five have already been let go, including Urban Meyer, David Culley, Brandon Staley, and Arthur Smith. Meyer, who had a tumultuous start in the NFL, was the first to be fired after a dismal 2-11 record. The ongoing instability highlights the lack of job security for NFL coaches, where success is often measured by playoff performance. Sirianni, despite initial skepticism about his coaching abilities, has a commendable record of 36-19 with the Eagles, while Campbell holds a 27-27-1 record with the Lions.
