A FedEx 18-wheeler caught fire on US 290 eastbound near State Highway 99 and Becker Road in northwest Harris County, causing a shutdown of the main lanes and resulting in major traffic delays. The truck was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival of authorities, and firefighters spent hours extinguishing the fire due to the back trailer continuously reigniting. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. No hazardous materials were on board, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. Eastbound lanes remain closed with westbound traffic flowing freely, and drivers are advised to exit at Becker and use feeder roads to bypass the area.
