Sheep world record

Una Cameron, a 51-year-old Scottish shearer, has set a new world record by shearing 517 strong wool ewes in nine hours at Trefranck Farm in Cornwall, surpassing the previous record of 458 held by New Zealander Sacha Bond. Cameron's extraordinary feat involved extensive preparation, including weight loss and rigorous training, and she described the experience as both painful and surreal. The event was likened to 'running two marathons back to back' due to the physical demands of shearing. Four adjudicators from the World Sheep Shearing Records Society were present to verify her record. In a related achievement, Staffordshire shearer Nick Greaves also set a new eight-hour world lamb shearing record by shearing 764 lambs, beating the previous record by 10 lambs. Greaves emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving his record, acknowledging the collective effort of his family and supporters.
