GAIL, Oil India Sign 15-Year Rajasthan Gas Supply Pact

GAIL (India) Limited and Oil India Limited (OIL), both Maharatna CPSEs, have extended their Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement for 15 more years starting July 1, 2025, under which OIL will supply up to 900,000 Standard Cubic Meters per Day (SCMD) of natural gas from its Rajasthan gas fields. This gas will be supplied to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) to support power generation, contributing to cleaner energy and regional energy security. The agreement highlights a strong collaborative effort to enhance domestic energy availability and reduce India's reliance on imported fuels, aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. GAIL operates a vast 16,421 km gas pipeline network transmitting over 127 MMSCMD and maintains a significant LNG portfolio alongside expanding renewable energy ventures. OIL continues to expand its upstream exploration and development activities to support long-term energy security. This renewal reflects a strategic push to integrate more domestic natural gas into India's energy mix as a transition fuel for cleaner power generation.
