Woman Jailed for Defrauding Elderly, Stealing Over £10,000

Lisa Macardle, 39, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of fraud against elderly victims. She deceived three individuals, all in their 90s, into handing over their bank cards by impersonating bank representatives and claiming their cards needed to be canceled. Macardle then used these cards to withdraw over £10,000 and make significant purchases, including Apple products. The court was informed of her fraudulent activities which took place across England in June 2023. Macardle was arrested on June 28, 2023, and ultimately jailed on January 17, 2024. Her actions have raised concerns about the vulnerability of elderly individuals to such scams.
