Top commanders of the Indian Navy will gather in New Delhi from September 17 to 20 for a crucial review of the country's maritime security landscape, addressing threats from China, rising extremist groups in Bangladesh, and recent regional instabilities. This conference, the first under new Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, follows Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's call for heightened readiness amid potential unforeseen challenges. Key discussions will focus on operational preparedness, capability enhancement, and the creation of new theater commands to ensure effective response strategies. The Navy will also assess its successful operations in the Gulf of Aden against piracy and drone threats. Additionally, modernization efforts are underway to address shortages in underwater assets, highlighted by the recent induction of nuclear-powered submarines. This biannual conclave is essential for fostering collaboration among military services and enhancing national maritime security.
