NJ Transit Train Crash Kills Operator, Injures 23
A tragic accident occurred on Monday morning when a New Jersey Transit River Line train collided with a fallen tree near Roebling Station in Mansfield Township, leading to the death of the train operator and injuring 23 passengers. The accident happened around 6 a.m. as the train was traveling southbound from Trenton, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries for the passengers. NJ Transit has suspended services between Florence and Trenton and is providing substitute bus services while investigations are underway. Authorities, including NJ Transit Police, are looking into how the tree ended up on the tracks. Governor Phil Murphy has expressed condolences to those affected, and a press conference was scheduled to address the incident. The accident has also led to the closure of parts of U.S. Highway 130 as emergency response teams continue their work.
