Coco Yoshizawa Wins Gold in Skateboarding

Japan's 14-year-old Coco Yoshizawa claimed gold in women's street skateboarding at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a score of 272.75, becoming the second youngest Olympic gold medalist for Japan. Her compatriot, Liz Akama, took silver, and Brazil's Rayssa Leal secured bronze. Yoshizawa's winning performance included the highest-scoring trick of the competition, which ensured her victory in front of a sellout crowd at Place de la Concorde. This event highlighted the dominance of young skaters, with all podium finishers being teenagers. Notably, Japan has now secured gold in both editions of the Olympic street skateboarding event since its introduction in 2020.
