Omari Jones Wins Bronze in Paris Olympics Boxing

Omari Jones from Orlando, Florida, concluded his journey at the Paris 2024 Olympics by winning a bronze medal in the men's welterweight (71 kg) division. He was defeated in a tight semifinal match against Uzbekistan's Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev, who won by a split decision of 3-2. Despite trailing at the start, Jones showcased resilience by winning the final round, but ultimately fell short of a knockout needed for victory. With this outcome, Jones became the only American boxer to medal at the Games, highlighting a disappointing performance from Team USA, which has not seen a male boxing gold medal since 2004. Muydinkhujaev will compete for gold against Mexico's Marco Alonso Verde Alvarez on August 9.
