Four Teens Arrested Using Drone to Smuggle Drugs into HMP Long Lartin
Four teenagers aged 15 to 19 were arrested on suspicion of attempting to smuggle contraband into HMP Long Lartin prison using a drone. Police received reports of a drone circling the prison in South Littleton early on July 11, prompting officers to track and stop a vehicle on the A46 in Alcester containing the suspects. Inside the vehicle, authorities found a drone, mobile phones, suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a contraband package believed to be destined for the prison. Detective Chief Inspector James Bamber praised the swift and coordinated police response that prevented the contraband from reaching the prison. The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, with police committing to robust action against such smuggling attempts. This incident highlights ongoing challenges prisons face with drone-enabled contraband deliveries.
