El Paso County Homicide Suspect Arrested in Colorado, Awaiting Extradition

Angel Lozano, 23, was arrested in Colorado in connection with the March 20 shooting death of 26-year-old Aaron Villa in Fabens, Texas. Lozano was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service's Colorado Violent Offender Task Force and booked into the Weld County Jail pending extradition to El Paso County. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, identified Lozano as the suspect after an extensive investigation. Sheriff Oscar Ugarte expressed condolences to Villa's family and emphasized the commitment to holding those responsible for violence accountable. Lozano was found in a mobile home park in Dacono, Colorado, after investigators tracked his location following the shooting. Authorities noted Lozano has tattoos associated with the Sureño gang, adding context to the investigation.
