Amazon Workers Stage Global Protests for Rights

Amazon workers in India participated in a Black Friday strike demanding better wages and working conditions, joining a global 'Make Amazon Pay' movement. Approximately 200 workers rallied in New Delhi, highlighting their grievances by wearing masks of Jeff Bezos. Protesters are calling for wage increases from 10,000 rupees ($120) to 25,000 rupees ($295) to meet rising living costs and are also advocating for improved workplace conditions and the right to unionize. Similar protests occurred at Amazon facilities worldwide, including in the U.S., Germany, and Brazil. Amazon responded by accusing the workers of promoting a false narrative, asserting that it provides competitive pay and safe working environments. The Amazon India Workers Union plans to submit a memorandum to the government to address their demands.
