Richard Pyrah Appointed Head Coach of Yorkshire Women's Team

Richard Pyrah has been appointed as the head coach of Yorkshire Women, returning to the club after being dismissed amid a racism scandal. Previously found guilty of using racist language towards Azeem Rafiq's sister, Pyrah received a two-week coaching ban and was fined £2,500 by the Cricket Discipline Commission. His dismissal in 2021 was later deemed 'procedurally unfair' by the club, leading to a settlement in 2022. Colin Graves, the club chairman, expressed enthusiasm for Pyrah's return, praising his track record and suitability for the role. Pyrah, who played for Yorkshire for over a decade, stated that leading the women's side is an incredible honor, especially during a transformative time for women's cricket following ECB's restructuring. Yorkshire Women will compete in Tier 2 of the revamped domestic structure, aiming for Tier 1 by 2026.
