Dodgers Acquire Esteury Ruiz for Carlos Duran

The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired center fielder Esteury Ruiz from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for right-hander Carlos Duran. Ruiz, who had an impressive 2023 with the most rookie steals in AL history, struggled in 2024 due to injuries and limited playing time, and will initially report to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves responded to star pitcher Reynaldo López’s shoulder injury by acquiring reliever Michael Petersen from the Los Angeles Angels. López, an All-Star, will undergo shoulder surgery, adding to the Braves' challenges as they remain winless this season. Petersen, a 31-year-old reliever, will report to Triple-A Gwinnett, offering the Braves additional pitching depth amidst their current struggles.
