Former NFL Player Richard Caster Dies at 75
Richard Caster, a former New York Jets tight end and wide receiver who was selected for three Pro Bowls during his 13-year NFL career, has died. He was 75. Caster's death was announced on Sunday, with his former Jackson State teammate James Hartfield informing the Mississippi Clarion Ledger that "I am really sad to hear about his passing." Caster's passing comes after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease, with the Jets releasing a statement offering their condolences to Caster's family and friends. Known for his speed and size, Caster ran a 4.5 40-yard dash at 6-foot-5 and 228 pounds, and helped to revolutionize the tight end position. Caster played eight seasons for the Jets and had 245 receptions for 4,434 yards and scored 36 touchdowns.
