Inaugural Uttarakhand Premier League Announced

The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) has announced the inaugural Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL), taking place from September 15-22 in Dehradun, featuring both men's and women's competitions. A total of five men's teams and three women's teams will compete in 16 matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, organized by SSPARK Sports and Entertainment. The UPL aims to provide a platform for young players from Uttarakhand to showcase their talent and learn from experienced players. A Player Draft will occur on September 1, allowing each team to select one marquee player, with Ekta Bisht, Punam Raut, and Mansi Joshi available for the women's teams. Mahim Verma, CAU's secretary, expressed excitement for the league, hoping to create an atmosphere similar to the Indian Premier League. This initiative is seen as a significant step in promoting women's cricket and enhancing local talent.
