Lockport DMV to Close Permanently on Nov. 25

Residents are advised to visit the Joliet DMV location over 10 miles away for their DMV needs, although many services can be completed online. The closure's reason was not disclosed, prompting questions from the community. To ease the transition, Illinois is piloting self-service DMV kiosks in grocery stores, aimed at improving accessibility for simple tasks like license renewals. This initiative is intended to modernize DMV services and assist those who may struggle with online processes, particularly elderly drivers. All DMV facilities in the state will also be closed for Thanksgiving from November 28-29.
