The Nigerian government has spent $6 trillion on fuel subsidies from 2022 to 2023, raising concerns about the sustainability and fairness of the subsidy system. The transition to deregulation aims to alleviate financial burdens but has sparked debates regarding its impact on living costs. Meanwhile, the emerging use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is suggested as a cleaner alternative energy source, although concerns remain about conversion costs and safety.
