CVS Health Layoffs to Impact 2,900 U.S. Employees

CVS Health has announced the layoff of 416 employees from its Hartford-based Aetna unit as part of a broader move to cut 2,900 corporate jobs nationwide. This decision is driven by CVS's strategy to save $2 billion over several years amid rising medical costs and industry disruptions. The layoffs, scheduled between December 8 and 21, will affect 93 on-site employees and 323 remote workers associated with the Hartford office. While CVS's corporate roles are primarily impacted, front-line jobs in stores, pharmacies, and distribution centers remain unaffected. The company is also laying off 632 employees in Rhode Island, comprising both in-person and remote staff, as part of the same cost-cutting initiative. Affected employees will receive severance pay and outplacement services to assist with their transition.
