Car Crash Causes Gas Leak, Evacuates Cary Homes

A car crashed into a townhouse in Cary on Monday, resulting in a gas leak that prompted the evacuation of four residential units. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. when a sedan left the road and collided with the side of the building, shearing off the natural gas meter. Emergency responders quickly arrived and safely extracted the driver, who sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Nicor Gas was called to the scene to assess the situation, leading to the gas service being shut off by 8:15 p.m. Firefighters worked to ventilate the building and confirmed that the structure only sustained minor damage.
