Freddie Kitchens Named Interim UNC Football Coach

Freddie Kitchens has been appointed as the interim head coach for the University of North Carolina football team following the dismissal of Mack Brown. Kitchens, who has served as the Tar Heels' run-game coordinator and tight ends coach since 2023, is stepping up to lead the team in their upcoming bowl game. Mack Brown's tenure ended with a 35-30 loss to NC State, and although he acknowledged the need for change, he was disappointed with the handling of his departure. Kitchens brings extensive experience, including a 16-year NFL coaching career and a stint as head coach for the Cleveland Browns. UNC finished their season with a 6-6 record and is bowl-eligible.
