Kneecap Leads Nominations at BIFA 2024

The Irish-language film 'Kneecap' has garnered a remarkable 14 nominations at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs), including Best Director and Best Screenplay for Rich Peppiatt, as well as Best British Independent Film. The film is based on the Belfast hip-hop trio of the same name and highlights their efforts to preserve the Irish language while also acting in their debut roles alongside Michael Fassbender. 'Kneecap' has also been selected as Ireland’s official entry for the Best International Feature at the upcoming Academy Awards. The film's nominations reflect its critical acclaim, having previously won accolades at the Sundance Film Festival and the Galway Film Fleadh. Producer Trevor Birney praised the recognition as a testament to the cast's and crew's hard work. The BIFA awards ceremony will take place on December 8, 2024, in London.
