Two Stratford Residents Killed in New Haven Harbor Boat Crash

Two Stratford residents, Cynthia Ferk, 64, and Floyd Maxson, 67, died after their 27-foot Sea Hunt motorboat crashed into the breakwall in New Haven Harbor. The pair were last seen dining at a New Haven restaurant before the accident and were reported missing when they failed to return from their boat ride. The U.S. Coast Guard and Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) found the vessel on the west breakwall, and the victims were located unresponsive at the scene, neither wearing life jackets. The medical examiner ruled their deaths accidental due to blunt impact injuries. The boat showed visible damage to the front hull and remained submerged until recovery efforts. DEEP Environmental Conservation Police are investigating the incident and have asked the public to stay clear of the area and to provide any information to their dispatch.
