Twin Cities Marathon Draws 30,000; Winners Named

The 44th Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon weekend drew more than 30,000 registrants, with 7,025 finishers in the marathon and 9,607 completing the 10-mile race. Will Norris won the men’s marathon in about 2:15:40 and Jane Bareikis won the women’s marathon in 2:32:52; Daniel Duehs defended the nonbinary marathon title, and Yemane Haileselassi and Mercy Chelangat won the 10-mile race; Hermin Garic and Hannah Babalola won the men’s and women’s push‑rim wheelchair divisions. Organizers added misting stations and extra water stops after an unseasonably hot lead‑in week; temperatures were in the low 70s at the start and rain dampened the second half, prompting many runners to take extra hydration precautions. Coverage highlighted a festival atmosphere with volunteers, spectators and many nonrunning attendees cheering along the course. Separately, Fresno’s Frida Fun Run marked Hispanic Heritage Month with 5K and 2K events raising funds for the Fresno County League of Mexican American Women (which has awarded more than $650,000 in scholarships), and a local news site said it will drop Facebook comments and require free site accounts for commenting.
