The film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's psychological thriller novel Verity, starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, has been delayed to October 2, 2026, from its original May 15, 2026 release date. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Michael Showalter, the movie follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, who uncovers dark family secrets while ghostwriting for author Verity Crawford. The release date positions Verity to compete with an untitled Tom Cruise film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. The screenplay was adapted by Nick Antosca, building on earlier drafts by multiple writers, and the production features a notable supporting cast including Ismael Cruz Cordóva and Brady Wagner. Verity marks Hoover's transition from romance to thriller, following the box office success of the 2024 adaptation of her novel It Ends With Us.
